The Artificial Lawn Company team were tasked with transforming this customer’s back garden in Maidstone, Kent. Initially, the lawn area was very tricky to mow and sat amongst a rockery.
The main problem in this space was that the customer really struggled to mow the two lawn areas amongst the rockery due to the gradients and slopes of the areas.
Our professional team completely transformed this garden into an all-year-round, low-maintenance paradise by removing the existing natural grass and replacing it with our Landscape Lawn. The incredible results really do speak for themselves!
For this client, the main problem with the initial lawn areas was the difficulty of maintenance. Both were very tricky to mow due to one sitting on a slope and the other being situated up some steps. This, coupled with them being edged by a rockery, made mowing and tidying extremely tiresome and time-consuming.
Additionally, when it rained heavily, or the customer walked on the natural grass, the patio area would become extremely muddy. This added to the maintenance required for the garden area.
As low maintenance was the aim of the game, our super durable Landscape Lawn was the best choice for this beautiful garden in Maidstone. It has strong C-shaped memory fibres, meaning it doesn’t require much brushing for it to look its best. Its short pile also makes it easier to keep clean and prevents debris from becoming embedded within the lawn. Our Landscape Lawn is also incredibly realistic, meaning the now artificial lawn still looks like the real thing!
We followed our standard installation process
Firstly, the existing natural grass was removed before our own special crushed granite aggregate was laid. This was then levelled perfectly, following the contours of the garden, and compacted again.
We then added a layer of heavy-duty woven geotextile weed membrane to stop any weed growth. This also prevented the shifting of the sub-base when large rolls were added onto the lawn area.
Our Landscape Lawn was installed in the whole area and secured around the perimeter with six-inch galvanised fixing pins. The hardest part of this installation was cutting into the rocks around the edge for a neatly realistic finish, due to the contours of the areas as well, the grass had to be overlapped and cut in creating pleats for a seamless finish.
Both areas were also installed without any joins, so laying the grass whilst keeping the contours without unsightly creases was also a challenge.
The finished result is a beautiful-looking garden of fake grass, from the stunning lawn to the surrounding rockery. The natural look of our Landscape Lawn, combined with the maintenance of the existing contours of the garden, creates a very realistic-looking finish.
Now, with the artificial grass installed, our client has removed the majority of the maintenance involved and no longer has to mow the two awkward areas. Now the only thing they have to focus on is enjoying their amazing garden!
