Crufts is the most prestigious and largest dog show in the world, held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. For the last 16 years, we have installed our Pedigree Lawn to the main arena, as well as two smaller arenas for all the perfect pooches.
There are many different competitions, including dog showing, agility, and flyball, all of which benefit from artificial grass as it provides an attractive, grippy, and tidy surface for all the events.
It is not just a great showing event but also a brilliant opportunity to meet over 150 different breeds of dog! Perfect for any new or current dog owners as there lots of trade stands as well.
Much like the arenas we have installed at Crufts for the last 16 years, we also install the arenas at Discover dogs and have done for many years. We install our 15mm Pedigree Lawn for the arenas which provides an attractive, grippy and tidy surface for all of the events.
Our 15mm Pedigree grass is designed just for dogs. Ideal for use in dog runs, training areas and agility courses and features a durable, curled pile that offers comfort under-paw while retaining a luxurious appearance. It is a very high- quality and tuff grass which boasts excellent low-maintenance properties and can also be used for multi-use sports areas.
After the show is finished, we clean the grass from the arenas, roll it back up and then sell it via the website. Typically, it is re-purposed into dog agility centres, dog homes like Battersea and even ditch liners for bowls greens!

The indoor arenas can be quite slippery and, consequently, no good for agility or flyball. Therefore, a solid surface needs to be implemented underneath to provide lots of grip for the various activities. The standard flooring is also very hard which can make it quite tough on the paws. The look of the normal floor is very industrial and without artificial grass looks quite boring, especially on TV!
We installed our Pedigree Lawn in three different arenas of the show, including the main arena.
For indoor arenas, the installation process is very simple compared to a normal installation. The flooring is already perfectly flat, so it is just a case of rolling out the grass, cutting it to shape, and joining it together. Since the flooring cannot be glued or damaged as the shows constantly change, we fix the grass and the joins to the flooring using strong double-sided tape.
The finished result is a durable, grippy, and natural-looking arena that is perfectly suited to a whole host of activities. Also, being at a dog show, it is easy to clean if there are any accidents.
